According to the Virginian Pilot, the Navy has confirmed that one of its aircraft has crashed in Virginia Beach.
The plane was reportedly a F/A-18 Hornet part of the belonging to VFA (Strike Fighter Squadron) 106. The Virginian Pilot reports Cmdr. Phil Rosi, a spokesman for Naval Air Force Atlantic, as saying two parachutes were seen, which means those in the plane may have been able to eject. WJLA reports that it may have crashed into an apartment complex at 900 block of S Birdneck Road in Virginia Beach.
The crash occurred around noon and the Virginia State Police shut down a portion of Interstate 264.
